Job Summary: The Quality Engineer will act as a liaison between the customer and the organization in all matters related to quality with respective customers. This position will ensure that processes and systems are in place that meets the needs of the customer and the business. Job Responsibilities:-- Determines quality improvement parameters by identifying statistical methods relevant to manufacturing processes.-- Acts as liaison to the customer in all matters related to quality assurance. -- Acts as the voice of the customer in the process. -- Develops SOP's and related documentation contributing to the overall Quality Management System. -- Submit projects on a regular basis as part of the continuous improvement program initiative.-- Perform root cause analysis and follow through with permanent corrective actions. -- Participate in customer visits as the quality liaison.-- Develops and documents testing methods for the verification of products as needed. -- Establish statistical confidence by identifying sample size and acceptable error; determining levels of confidence.-- Develop experiments by applying full and fractional factorial techniques.-- Develop sampling plans by applying attribute, variable and sequential sampling methods to create control plans that mitigate risks. -- Analyzes data by completing ANOVA, regression, hypothesis, normal distribution, and process capability analysis tests and statistical process control charting.-- Defines, prepares, and maintains physical and electronic quality standards by defect type and product. -- Develops and performs training with the quality lab associates related to product testing and quality defect standards.-- Maintains relevant data related to the quality performance of their areas of responsibilities. -- Prepare reports by collecting analyzing and summarizing data; make recommendations.-- Maintains all related information related to the products of their responsibilities in the Infinity SPC software. -- Performs data reviews of the information in the Infinity SPC program related to their areas of responsibilities on a weekly basis including all related CCP's of the areas.-- Prepares and develops training for quality and floor technicians as needed. -- Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, benchmarking practices, participating in professional societies and maintaining American Society of Quality certified quality engineer certification.-- Perform other related duties that contribute to the success of the operation as assigned by supervisor/manager. Bachelor's Degree preferred. -- Experience:Two to four years of previous quality assurance experience in a manufacturing environment desired, preferably in the paper or plastics industry. Previous experience with plastics and/or thermoforming strongly desired. -- Skills and Abilities:Proficiency in quality system management and process improvement.Good written and oral communication skills.Ability to promote team dynamics with the department.Ability to analyze and deal with complex situations.Attention to detail thoroughness and follow through abilities.Demonstrated knowledge of statistical analysis.Ability to prioritize multiple tasks effectively in a fast paced environment. Work Environment: The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. -- This position primarily works in a controlled office environment.-- The noise level in the work environment is consistently above 85 decibels when on the production floor.-- During summer months, employee may have to work in temperatures as high as 110 degrees for prolonged periods of time.-- Dust from machine processes is constantly present.-- The employee constantly works near mechanical parts and lift trucks.-- The employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or vapors or hazardous products such as degreasers and silicone spray.-- Required to wear steel toed shoes, safety glasses and ear plugs in the manufacturing area.
