at Leidos QRC Airborne ISR Systems Division has an opening for an
Aerospace Structural Engineer to work in our Bridgewater, VA
office. This is an exciting opportunity to use your experience
helping the Leidos mission. In this mission, we provide aerial
intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance platforms for
today's warfighter.THE CHALLENGE (primary responsibilities)
- Perform static, linear structural analysis for modifications to
FAR Part 23 and Part 25 aircraft.
- Analyze metallic and composite structures using both Finite
Element Analysis (FEA) and classical hand calculation
methodology.
- Write and review structural test plans, test reports, and
structural analysis reports.
- Serve as the programmatic structures lead for the design
development of aircrafts. Ensuring all deliverable deadlines are
met and all systems have analysis coverage as applicable to include
static structural analysis, Damage Tolerance Analysis (DTA), and
Instructions for Continued Airworthiness (ICA).
- Provide mechanical design recommendations based on structural
design principles and analysis results.
- Present analysis assumptions and results during internal and
external design reviews.
- Collaborate with Integrated Product Teams to plan and execute
all technical and production functions.
- Mentor engineers in areas of stress analysis, design, and
fabrication methods.
- Review and approve design deviation requests and
non-conformance reports.
- Peer review and approve structural analysis reports and
drawings of other engineers.WHAT SETS YOU APART (basic
qualifications)
- Bachelor's degree in engineering or STEM field
- 4+ years of experience in engineering development and product
lifecycle management
- 4+ years experience with airplane or helicopter analysis
- Experience with FAR Part 23 and Part 25 aircraft
certification.
- Experience in structural analysis of metallic and composite
aircraft structure.
- Experience with all phases of the development lifecycle
including planning, conceptual design, requirements definition,
preliminary design, prototyping, test and evaluation, detailed
design, integration, formal verification, entry to production,
etc.
- Strong engineering analytical and technical writing skills with
demonstrated experience authoring technical reports and supporting
design reviews.
- Effective communication & interpersonal skills with ability to
present data and explain results to leadership, subordinates &
peers.
- Leadership, teambuilding, and mentoring skills.
- Ability to effectively work within a multi-functional and
diverse team.
- Proficiency in presenting complex information to both technical
and non-technical management personnel and other
stakeholders.Security Clearance Requirement
- Eligible to obtain and maintain a minimum of Secret security
clearance.Preferred Qualifications
- Ability to work on multiple projects in various stages
simultaneously.
- Proficient in using Finite Element Modeling software - FEMAP NX
Nastran.
- Experience using Computer-Aided Design (CAD) platforms -
SolidWorks.
- Experience with Fatigue and Damage Tolerance Analysis.
- Proficiency using presentation software to explain complex
information to both technical and non-technical management
personnel and other stakeholders.
- Experience performing cost and schedule management.Pay
Range:Pay Range $78,000.00 - $120,000.00 - $162,000.00The Leidos
pay range for this job level is a general guideline onlyand not a
guarantee of compensation or salary. Additional factors considered
in extending an offer include (but are not limited to)
responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge,
skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity, alignment with
market data, applicable bargaining agreement (if any), or other
law.
