Job Description:
Blue Star NBR , a Nitrile Butadiene Rubber (NBR) chemical
formulation, and glove manufacturing company, is currently
undergoing construction in Wytheville, VA.
Blue Star NBR will be a fully integrated chemical facility using
raw materials developed and formulated onsite to proudly supply
American-made medical-grade NBR for use in the production of
nitrile examination gloves.
Wytheville is ideally situated off I-77 and I-81 in Southwest

Position Description:
The Chemical Lab Technician will follow the pilot plant recipes and
testing protocols that are issued by the Technical Manager and
Chemist. This includes an ability to manage, handle, and weigh
hazardous raw materials for an introduction to a pilot plant
reactor and other test equipment. This individual will follow
recipe instructions to operate the reactor system, monitor the
progress of the reaction by monitoring instruments, extracting, and
evaluating periodic samples, and taking corrective measures to
ensure that the reactions progress on the prescribed program
profiles.
The Chemical Lab Technician may be asked to conduct testing in the
R&D lab, the pilot plant, and the main plant once construction
is complete, and will need to precisely follow test protocols in a
timely manner working closely within a team.
Responsibilities:
Accurately measuring raw materials needed to support the
preparation and 'charging' the pilot plant reactor
Conducting various tests on raw materials and product as prescribed
by Chemist
Monitoring the progress of the reactions to ensure they follow
recipe profile
Preparing documentation of tests as prescribed by Chemist
Preparing in advance raw material for the following day (shift)
usage
Periodically check and ensure safety equipment is functional
Maintaining a clean environment in the operating area
Qualifications:
Required Education and Experience:
- Associates degree in a science or engineering subject
- 1+ year(s) of laboratory operations experience
Preferred Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Science, Chemistry or Geology
- Experience working with power equipment and power tools
- Microsoft Excel - Intermediate to Advanced skills.
- Detail Oriented
- Strong communications and interpersonal skills
- MS Office, instrumentation, and data software skills Mechanical
aptitude
- Math skills -good understanding of unit conversions,
concentrations, and graph interpretation
- High standards of professional ethics, quality, environmental,
and safety standards
