Job Description:

qualified PCU RN in Winston Salem, North Carolina, 27103! Pay

Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: PCU Duration: 13
weeks Shift: Day Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 2 years
License: NC or Compact license required at the time of start
Certifications: ACLS, BLS preferred NIHSS Must-Have: IV start,
Vents, Telemetry, and CPAP/BiPAP, interpretation and management of
dysrhythmias Description: RTO after booking is not allowed. Any
call-offs or additional RTO on the unit may result in a
cancellation. The unit accepts first-time travelers. Local
candidates are also accepted. Patient population includes COPD,
pneumonia, respiratory distress, and COVID-19. The unit is a mixed
acuity unit with PCU and MS/Tele patients. Target ratios are
typically 1:4-5. In extreme situations, the ratio may go to 1:6.
The unit operates with a team lead present and additional
resources, such as respiratory therapists and an assistant nurse
manager. The unit is capable of accepting 13-week assignments.
Weekend requirements consist of four shifts in six weeks.
Candidates should be comfortable floating to like units. The
patient population includes individuals with comorbidities
requiring telemetry monitoring. Resources available on the unit
include an Admission/Discharge nurse, an Assistant Nurse Manager, a
Vascular Access Team, RRT, Code Team, and a Behavioral Health Team.
The unit manages ventilators mainly for chronic tracheostomy and
ventilator patients, with a policy that no nurse cares for more
than one ventilator patient at a time. Candidates must pass EKG
testing prior to starting. Scrubs can be white or navy blue. RTO is
limited to a maximum of seven days. Travelers must work two out of
three major holidays. During the first week of the assignment, no
RTO is allowed due to orientation. Travel pairs are allowed but
must be assigned to different units. References from two managers
or supervisors from the last twelve months are highly preferred.
Travelers cannot work more than five days in a row or more than
sixty hours in a week. Modules are non-billable and must be
completed pre-start annually. Hours vary based on specialty and
