Job Description & Requirements - Specialty: Med Surg - Discipline: RN - Start Date: 11/17/2025 - Duration: 13 weeks - 36 hours per week - Shift: 12 hours, nights - Employment Type: Travel Job Description American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a PCU/MS float position requiring proficiency in telemetry care and EPIC charting with night shifts. Responsibilities - Work in a hospital setting, floating between all PCU and MS units - Patient population includes progressive care and medical-surgical cases with cardiovascular conditions - PCU nurse-to-patient average ratio is 5:1, MS ratio averages 6:1 and may flex to 7:1 - Three 12-hour night shifts per week, 6:45 pm to 7:15 am - May float 2-3 times per shift as staffing needs are re-evaluated every 4 hours and may float to inpatient rehab - Weekend requirement is either every other weekend or 6 weekend shifts per 6-week schedule - Must work at least one holiday per 13-week contract - Uses the EPIC EMR system; prior experience required - Responsibilities include providing PCU and MS level nursing care, managing complex cardiovascular, endocrine, and medical-surgical patients - Part of a team that responds to emergencies via Rapid Response and Code teams - May float between multiple units and inpatient rehab based on staffing demands - First-time travelers are accepted for this position - Must provide requested time off (RTO), block, and special scheduling requests at the time of application - Facility may call off up to one shift every two weeks - Local candidates are accepted, with a radius rule applied - Must supply two professional references for consideration Requirements - Active VA or compact RN license required, or a pending license if from a non-compact state - Current BLS and ACLS certifications required - Minimum experience in telemetry and stepdown (PCU/DOU/IMC) settings - Proficient in IV therapy, phlebotomy, and blood product administration - Skilled in central line care, trach management, non-invasive airway support (including CPAP/BiPAP), and chest tubes - Proficient in cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation, titrating cardiac drips, and emergency response - Experienced in PCA and heparin protocols, IV insulin administration, and endocrine/metabolic care - EPIC charting experience required Benefits - High Pay and Bonuses - Medical, Dental and Vision Insurance with Day 1 Options - 401(k) Plan - Weekly Payroll Deposit - Free Online CEUs - Generous Housing Allowance - Travel and Licensure Reimbursements - Non-taxed Per Diem and Subsidy - Traveler Rewards and Discounts American Traveler Job ID P-629023.
