Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a night shift ICU/PCU
float position requiring strong ICU and PCU skills and EPIC
charting experience. Responsibilities - Work in ICU and PCU units
within a hospital setting - Position requires floating between all
ICU and PCU units as assigned, with potential to float every 4
hours during a shift - Night shift schedule: 3x12 hour shifts,
6:45pm to 7:15am - PCU average patient ratio is 5:1; ICU average
patient ratio is 2:1 - EPIC electronic medical record system
experience is required - Weekend shifts may be every other weekend
or 6 weekends per 6-week block - Must work one holiday during the
13-week contract - Duties include managing high acuity patients,
supporting critical and progressive care interventions, and
collaborating with multidisciplinary teams - The position is within
a Level 1 Trauma Center and Magnet-designated teaching hospital -
First-time travelers are welcome to apply - Local candidates are
considered according to facility radius rules - All request for
time off, block and special scheduling must be included with
initial application - Christmas time off requests cannot be
approved - Scrub color or dress code requirements not specified
Requirements - Active VA or compact RN license, or pending license
if from a non-compact state - Current ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS
certifications required - Minimum 2 years of ICU and PCU nursing
experience preferred - Experience in large Level 1 or Level 2
trauma facilities required - Proficiency with IV therapy (arterial
line management, central/PICC line care, blood product
administration, IV initiation and maintenance) - Skilled in
respiratory support (BiPAP, CPAP, ventilator management) -
Expertise in medication administration including titration of
cardiac and vasoactive drips, and emergency medications - Ability
to interpret and manage dysrhythmias and perform cardiac monitoring
- Experience with wound care for surgical wounds with drains or
wound vacs - Familiarity with IV insulin protocol adherence
