Emergency Department Nurse Location: LewisGale Medical Center,
Salem, VA Unit: Emergency Department Floor: Emergency Department
Unit Overview: The Emergency Department at LewisGale Medical Center
is a dynamic unit with 27 beds, staffed by a team of 50 Registered
Nurses and 25 medics. Our team delivers high-quality emergency care
in a fast-paced environment. Staffing and Shifts: Day Shift: 1
Charge Nurse, 5 Registered Nurses, 2-3 Medics; staffing increases
by 4-5 Registered Nurses at 11am and by 1-2 Registered Nurses at
3pm Night Shift: 1 Charge Nurse, 5 Registered Nurses, 2-3 Medics
Patient Ratios: Nurse-to-patient ratios range from 4:1 to 6:1,
depending on the shift and patient acuity. Electronic Medical
Records (EMR): Meditech system utilized for all patient

Requirements Must have completed 2-3 travel assignments Must have
2-3 years ER experience High acuity ERs, fast paced ERs with high
volume Experience with patient ratios of 5:1 List typical
procedures performed on unit(s): RSI, Sepsis interventions, Stroke
protocol with tPA administration, central line placement, care of
the psych patient, transfers to other facilities (EMTALA), REQUIRED
CERTIFICATIONS: BLS, ACLS, PALS; Preferred: TNCC, ENPC, NRP, NIH
Floating Area(s): None Dress Code: Scrub Color/Attire - navy blue
or white Weekends and On call(if any) No on call. Weekends are four
weekend shifts (Friday or Saturday for nights) in a four week
