Registered Nurse (RN) | Intensive Care Unit (ICU) / Critical Care Location: Roanoke, VA Agency: Cynet Health Pay: $2,323 per week Shift Information: Nights - 3 days x 12 hours Contract Duration: 13 Weeks Start Date: 1/26/2026 About the Position Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: ICU Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum of 2 years in ICU License: Active RN license required Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS Must-Have: Must be comfortable working in all ICU, PCU, and MS units. Must have experience with ratios of at least 1:5. Description: Position requires a RN for a resource pool with ICU, PCU, and MS float capabilities. The RN is expected to work 3x12-hour shifts from 6:45 PM to 7:15 AM. Additional 4x12-hour shifts may be available by request. Charting experience with EPIC is required. Staffing needs are re-evaluated every 4 hours, which may require floating 2-3 times per shift. Weekend requirements include working every other weekend or 6 weekend shifts in a 6-week block. Holiday work is required, with a minimum of one holiday per 13-week contract. First-time travelers are welcomed. Pending licenses may be accepted if the candidate holds a single-state license from a non-compact state. Candidates must have experience with IV therapy and phlebotomy. The role includes arterial line management, central line care, and blood product administration. Candidates should be skilled in managing BiPAP/CPAP and caring for ventilated patients. Proficiency in cardiac monitoring and dysrhythmia interpretation is necessary. Ability to respond to emergencies via rapid response and code teams is essential. The candidate must manage continuous IV sedation and titrate cardiac and vasoactive medications. Experience in a large level 1 or level 2 facility is preferred. Patient ratios vary: ICU average is 2:1, PCU average is 5:1, and MS average is 6:1, flexing up to 7:1. The facility is a large acute care teaching hospital with advanced specialty care and is Magnet-designated for nursing excellence. The nursing team is supported by interdisciplinary services, including respiratory therapy, social services, and rapid response teams. The candidate should be adaptable and able to float to different units as needed. The role may require managing surgical wounds, starting IVs, and other clinical tasks as necessary.
