experience required. License: Active Registered Nurse license
required. Certifications: BLS required. Must-Have: Charge RN
experience preferred. Epic charting system experience required.
Previous Behavioral Health inpatient experience required.
Description: This position requires 3 nights of 12-hour shifts from
7 PM to 7:30 AM. Four weekend shifts are included in a 6-week
schedule. No call is required. Previous experience in adult or
geriatric behavioral health is preferred, but child or adolescent
experience will be considered. Floating to sister units is
required, specifically adult behavioral health. During low census
periods, there may be only 1 RN and a couple of techs on the unit.
Patient age groups primarily include geriatrics. Daily census is
approximately 10 patients, with a patient ratio of 6 per nurse
during shifts. This position involves providing care for diagnoses
such as schizophrenia, suicidal behavior, mood disorders,
depression, anxiety, and psychosis. Skills required include
medication administration, blood glucose monitoring, physical hold
protocols, and knowledge of seclusion protocols. Special equipment
includes EKGs, glucometers, bladder scanners, and specialty beds.
All RNs are required to pass an EKG exam during the compliance
process. Study material for the EKG exam is not provided, so
candidates should prepare accordingly. Compliance with background
checks and educational verification through a third party is
mandatory. Floridians should be aware that certain educational
institutions may not be accepted due to compliance issues. All
travelers may be subject to float to other campuses as needed. 5
