Job Summary

Researches, implements, and maintains information technologies to increase database systems operational efficiencies and secure Carilion's enterprise network. Manages corporate projects and problem resolution requiring the participation of multiple specialized teams.

Duties and Responsibilities may include but not limited:

• Analyzes, optimizes, implements, and maintains the Carilion Clinic database platforms with minimal supervision from supervisor and/or manager.
• Implements, and maintains security technologies for all database platforms throughout the enterprise.
• Performs cross-platform referential integrity and monitors/manages database indexes to enhance database performance.
• Independently develops reference materials (database schema diagrams, installation documentation, etc.) for supported database technologies to be used for both online and in-person training of other technical staff.
• Manages assigned projects and meets deadlines with minimal supervision from supervisor and/or manager.
• Serves as both a professional and technical mentor to other Database Administrators.
• Proactively identifies areas of improvement (process or technical) and develops plans for associated changes required.
• Interfaces with clients, vendors, and other teams on multi-faceted projects involving database platform technologies.
• Interfaces with clients, vendors, and multiple teams while providing resolution to problem incidents as escalated from the Technology Service Center.

  Minimum Qualifications
  
  Education: Bachelor's Degree in a related field or equivalent work experience.
  
  Experience: Minimum three years' active Oracle 11g/12c and/or Microsoft SQL 2012/2014 combined experience.
  
  Intersystems Cache experience preferred.
  
  Licensure/Certification:
  
  Valid Virginia drivers' license and dependable transportation.
  
  A minimum of two of the following certifications are required:
  
  Microsoft MCSA (SQL 2008 or newer)
  
  Microsoft MCSE (Data Management and Analytics)
  
  Epic Operational Database Administrator
  
  Epic Clarity ETL Administrator
  
  Oracle Certified Associate (10g or newer)
  
  Oracle Certified Professional (10g or newer)
  
  Other Minimum Qualifications: Good organizational skills, analytical, dependable, detail oriented, interpersonal skills, and understanding of the English language (both written and oral). Must have thorough understanding of the 7-layer OSI model. IBM AIX, Linux, Microsoft Windows Server, IBM TSM/TDP, SQL optimization, Oracle RMAN, Oracle ASM, Oracle DataGuard management experience preferred. Basic Korn, Perl, VB Scripting experience desirable. Must have excellent problem-solving skills and be customer service oriented.
