solutions. - -This position primarily performs complex testing of
software systems, but also performs testing of physical hardware. -
Position conducts testing to assure new product introductions
comply with design requirements, design specifications, and total
quality objectives and standards. - Additionally, this position
supports the creation and on-going maintenance of product user and
technical guides and provides a lead role in root cause analysis,
documentation, and reporting regarding product returns. - Working
closely within a development team, the QA Specialist communicates
with product developers and technical support specialists to
identify and remedy product defects. - The QA Specialist drives
improvements and efficiencies within the overall Product
Development organization.Essential Functions:
- Designs and implements complex test cases, creates test plans
and develops manual or automated test cases and procedures.
- Performs testing on new software and hardware development
projects and supports legacy platform products.
- Executes software and hardware application tests, generates
test data and metrics, communicates test status and analyzes
results.
- Acts as the "consumer advocate" on quality issues, researches
and develops an understanding of the requirements for the product
feature being tested, including how the users use the feature and
their performance requirements for the features.
- Responsible for recognizing, documenting, and proposing
solutions for process problems and defects that may be critical to
products usability.
- Helps establish guidelines for testing.
- Records defects (using bug tracking software), including
documenting information useful in the debugging process, evaluating
test data, problem discovery, tracking and resolution.
- Supports and maintains product guides and manuals.
- Evaluates product returns for root cause analysis. Documents
findings and provides oral and written reports to internal teams
and to end-users as needed.
- Provides written and oral reports of test results to management
and development team that are clear and concise.
- Manages priorities when assigned to multiple teams.
- Keeps abreast of evolving QA industry processes and
standards.
- Perform responsibilities in accordance with all company
standards, policies and procedures.
- Other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications:
- Analytical, detail oriented and highly organized.
- Associates degree in Computer Science, Information Technology,
OR equivalent experience.
- Ability to develop automated test software, create test
routines, etc. for hardware and software products.
- Familiarity with relational database design, good knowledge of
Microsoft SQL with the ability to create database queries.
- Experience with black box and white box testing techniques and
methodologies.
- Mastery of unit, integration, performance, and stability
testing techniques.
- Experience with JIRA, Zephyr, and Confluence testing and
documentation tools.
- Experience working in a development team environment and
ability to influence the quality of the product in that
environment.
- Exceptional written/verbal communication skills.
- Excellent problem solving/troubleshooting skills.
- Technical writing skills. Preferred Qualifications:
- Diverse hardware and software technology experience (across
databases, operating environments, application platforms, delivery
models, etc.).
- Exposure to multiple software development methodologies.
- Background experience in software security threat analysis and
techniques.
- Software development skills for creating applications in
support of product testing.
- Experience in troubleshooting electro-mechanical products for

- Ability to walk, stand and sit for period of time.
- Ability to remain seated for long periods of time while working
on a computer or documentation, etc.

a computer screen and/or in paper format.
- Ability to interact with a diversity of people and diverse
levels of personnel.
- Ability to travel as necessary for the positions described.
