Job Summary Full time Physician Assistant with Carilion Clinic Neurology. - Focus will be on General Neurology but will also focus on headache, pseudo tumor, lumbar punctures procedures, and forge relationships with area Ophthalmology practices. Hours are - M-F 8:00 to 5:00 or 4- 10 hour shifts. The Medical Specialty Physician Assistant has advanced knowledge and skills qualify her/him to function as a primary health care provider. She/he serves as a member of a collaborative health care team. This collaborative role includes responsibility for determining the patient's health and medical status by taking a health history; performing physical exams; initiating screening and diagnostic procedures; providing health maintenance services; and management of pregnancy, minor trauma, acute illnesses, and stable chronic illness. -Consults with physician, as appropriate, keeping the physician informed of needs and problems related to patient care. - Minimum Qualifications Education: -Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant Program required. Experience: -Clinical experience appropriate to specific practice/ department preferred Licensure/Certification: -Current Physician Assistants license (PA) required. DEA licensure required. - -AHA BLS-HCP certification required. Advanced life support is preferred and is required for those who may use a defibrillator in their practice. Other: -Meets credentialing requirements. Qualifies for malpractice insurance and is accepted by Carilion Clinic's malpractice insurance carrier. Ability to work collaboratively with physicians and other health care providers.
