District is seeking a highly motivated individual for our Salem
Residency with solid experience in basic accounting and office
support activities to join our team. VDOT is seeking a fiscal
technician who will:-- - Maintain/process time and attendance data
entries, accounts payable/receivable, procurement/small purchasing
credit card (SPCC) direct charge, travel, inventory and other
fiscal transactions.-- - Interpret basic policies and procedures to
implement minor procedural and transaction changes to purchase
orders for large projects.-- - Report for weather related
situations and emergency operations in inclement weather

benefits. Minimum Qualifications -- - Working knowledge of
policies/procedures related to time and attendance, accounts
payable/receivable, procurement, inventory, and travel.-- -
Knowledge of basic accounting, math, and business principles. -- -
Experience procuring diverse goods and services using a Small
Purchasing Credit Card (SPCC).-- - Ability to monitor, analyze and
reconcile data in payment vouchers, and accurately perform data
entry into automated financial and inventory systems.-- - Ability
to work independently and as a team member.-- - Ability to
communicate effectively orally and in writing with internal and
external customers.-- - Ability to maintain orderly and easily
accessible files, purge and dispose of files in accordance with
records retention guidelines and schedules.-- - Skill in use of
computers and software applications to include MS Office, automated
financial and inventory systems. Additional Considerations -- -
Experience applying knowledge of GAAP, government/fund accounting,
internal controls, inventory, and compliance.-- - Knowledge and
experience processing accounts payable and receivable within strict
deadline environment.-- - Experience performing account
reconciliations and tracking time/attendance for large body of

Fingerprint based background check required. Employment is
contingent upon successful completion of a DMV records check
conducted by the Agency, and a Valid Driver's License is Required.
This position is designated as essential and as such, all duties
associated with this position are required during emergency
situations, which may include, but are not limited to inclement
weather, disaster response, and emergency operations. VDOT will
determine when essential positions are required. This recruitment
