Responsible for administrative, warehouse, and internal functions of branch location. Provides leadership to staff to meet and optimize established levels of business performance objectives, service, productivity, and quality. The Branch Operations Manager, in collaboration with the Regional Manager, will work directly with the warehouse management team, and through dotted line responsibility with the fabrication department, to plan, direct and coordinate DI's operations. The Branch Operations Manager will be responsible for improving performance, productivity, efficiency and profitability through the implementation of effective methods and strategies. Maintains employee morale while servicing customer at economical cost. Supports branch sales plan for growth and margin improvement.

Essential Job Functions

--- Supervises supplier and return material authorization, including customer credit and supplier claim for special order or defective product forms pending return of material.

--- Assists in controlling branch assets, including inventory, receivables and payables to maximize bottom line performance, reduce carrying costs, and satisfy customers

--- Utilizes LEAN methodologies to develop and implement action plans to correct problem areas and optimize established levels of business performance objectives, service, productivity, and quality.

--- Implements and ensures consistent compliance with standard operating procedures, policies, internal audit controls, controls and business management quality system requirements.

--- Analyzes customer feedback procedures and develops methods to improve service quality using metrics.

--- Supervises supplier and return material authorization and credit memo processes, special order or defective product forms pending return of material.

--- Contributes to preparation of branch annual budget, including forecast of capital expenditures.

--- Analyzes reports to identify potential operational deficiencies and take corrective actions.

--- Performs required system utilities, security and administrative controls used in daily activities.

--- Implements branch physical security standards by conducting facility and asset inspections and taking corrective actions to support security controls.

--- Implements and directs branch safety program and warehouse housekeeping practices.

--- Conducts inventory control procedures, including reconciling inventory accounts, coordinating inventory returns and repairs, and assisting in product cycle counting.

--- Controls and monitors branch operating expenses and implements corrective actions.

--- Conducts annual transportation cost analyses and takes corrective actions.

--- Monitors and approves branch expense and stock documentation

--- Oversees use and maintenance of petty cash fund.

--- Conducts daily branch management meetings to communicate information and resolve problems.

--- Manages warehouse operations so that productivity and budgetary goals are consistently met.

--- Works closely with sales and fabrication teams to develop and maintain a 'customer first, whatever it takes' culture.

--- Works with fabrication and purchasing departments to ensure accurate, on-time and in full receipt of materials in support of overall order fulfilment goals.

--- Determines equipment availability and capabilities to efficiently schedule, coordinate, and move orders through the facility to meet customer expectations.

--- Organizes and manages workflow to satisfy production requirements in a cost-efficient manner.

--- Analyzes and provides solutions to warehouse challenges or problems.

--- Maintains proper employment levels through selecting, interviewing and training of personnel.

--- Initiates or suggests plans to motivate employees to achieve work goals.

--- Works with Corporate Safety to instruct and monitor employees regarding safety policies and procedures and overall good housekeeping standards.

--- Bachelor's degree in business or related field, preferred.

--- A minimum of 10 years' proven work experience in a management or similar role in a warehouse/distribution center environment, or a minimum 15 years' experience working in a manufacturing/fabrication environment.

--- Must have experience with product scheduling and shipping, logistics and fleet management, and customer service.

--- Intermediate level Microsoft Office skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).

--- Must have experience with ERP's, WMS, distribution/shipping software (strong preference for SXe/ TWL experience).

--- Knowledge of business and management principles (budgeting, strategic planning, resource allocation).

--- Knowledge of safety, quality, productivity, demand creation and inventory.

--- Ability to create accountability and to lead by example.

--- Must be a quick decision maker and have advanced troubleshooting skills.

--- Strong team building, decision-making and people management skills.

--- Flexibility to work extended hours as required to meet Customer deadlines.

Physical Requirements

General office environment and occasional exposure to non-climate-controlled warehouse. Requires standing, sitting, driving, use hands, climb stairs, balance, stoop, kneel, read, talk and hear; the employee must lift and/or move up to 20 pounds; specific vision abilities include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.
